Vita-Fit Spirulina has been called a future food and provides
a very interesting content of nutrients. This plant plankton contains more than just a
range of vitamins. It not only has almost all the necessary vitamins, minerals and amino
acids, it has a wide variety of other nutrients such as gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) and
beta-carotene compounds. It has approximately one fifth of the GLA content of evening
primrose oil but also contains a comprehensive range of other key nutrients. Even more
importantly, because of its high chlorophyll and other plant pigment content, there is a
great ability of Spiruhna to help in energy production. Spirulina has a very alkaline
effect on the body. It has been shown in recent research that the green pigments in
Spirulina reduce cancer risk. Spirulina extracts have been shown to reverse tumour growth
in animals. When carotenoid extracts were taken from Spirulina to see if this was the
cause of the reduced cancer it was found that indeed it wasn't, there was something in
Spirulina, not yet identified, that had the anti-cancer effect. A large number of
experiments have shown a cholesterol inhibiting effect in that a dosage of 4.2 grams per
day reduced cholesterol and heightened HDL (good cholesterol) levels.
Dosage: Take 1-10 500mg tablets twice a day. Many of the studies on reversing body disfunction have
used dosages of 4.2 grams - 10 grams per day. It has been shown to be effective with
anaemia. It has a significant effect in alleviating constipation and greatly reducing
allergy effects, particularly those with asthmatics. It has been shown to be beneficial
with pancreatitis and cataract effects. There have been good effects with stress-related
stomach ulcers and certainly a clear suppressive effect on hypertension.
It is important to bear in mind that the real
beneficial effect comes by taking about 20 grams per day. This is approximately 3
teaspoons. So you can see that taking about 20 tablets, or 3 teaspoons of powder in juice
a day is necessary for these more striking effects. It is understandable that one needs to
take a reasonable amount. It is only with this amount that one is getting the content of
the nutrients that are necessary to have the effect.
10 grams of Spirulina contains 10% of the
recommended daily allowance of protein intake.
Spirulina is a very easily digestible substance
because the cell walls are not like the thick and hard cell walls of plants which are
resistant to digestion, but are very easily broken down. The nutrients in Spirulina are
therefore very easily absorbed.
It would hardly seem necessary to do toxicity
studies but it fact, these have been done with no signs of toxicity on large doses.
Studies have shown no problems in any organs and studies on reproductive functions in
offspring had shown no deformity causing qualities.
It should be noted that while Spirulina has quite
dramatic effects in helping with a number of body problems it has been stated that when
Spirulina is combined with other treatment methods, such as other specific
vitamin/nutrient formulations, Spirulina will definitely enhance the effects and a more
Positive outcome will be obtained.
The most interesting and positive aspect of
taking Spirulina is the ensurance of an intake of the nutrients that the body may require,
including unsaturated fatty acids and carotenoid pigments, and particularly nutrients for
energy. When one looks at the nutrient intake contained in Spirulina it is very
impressive. An excellent way to obtain an enhanced energy level and to ensure a more
allmline body state is to take 10 grams of spirulina per day by either up to 20 tablets
(500mg each) or 3 teaspoons of powder (3 grams each) or a combination to add up to the 10
grams. A drink can be made by adding 1-2 teaspoons of powder to cold juice with half of a
banana, mixed in a blender (Spirulina cocktail). There are other inventive ways to ensure
that your daily Spirulina intake is high, eg. eating Spirulina in biscuits and health food
bars. |
